Many times I see different countries stating that they are a member of this alliance or that organization or such-and-such confederation, but I generally do not have any idea what the various random acronyms stand for. With this in mind, I thought it helpful to create a list of alliances and organizations in NationStates so people don't get confused as often. This is similar to the former NationStates White Pages in the Nationstates forum, but something like it could be used in this forum as well.

The list has the acronyms in alphabetical order with the meaning of the acronym, its leader/founder and/or contact nation, its current status and its purpose (if it has been given). If the founder or contact nation does not have a link, it is because the nation no longer exists. NOTE: I purposely do not include a list of the current members of each alliance, as many of them have quite a few members and this would make the list unnecessarily long; in addition, many alliances change members at a rapid pace, and it would encumber my already-limited time to have to constantly change member lists. I have also recently decided to include links to the website of each alliance (if one exists), so please include that if possible. Also, please do not advertise your region here unless it has an IC purpose (i.e., an alliance that requires members to be in the same region). Lastly, I reserve the right to edit entries for spelling and grammar, since the proper use of the two of them makes the list look much better.

NOTE: I cannot be responsible to keep track of alliances as names change and info is updated - there are simply far too many to watch, so if your alliance has changed, POST HERE so that I know and don't be angry if I haven't noticed the change on my own!

Note: please post new additions in a simple format to make it easier to update the list. Something like this will be fine: Acronym - Name - Founder - Status - Succinct Purpose (optional). I don't post lists of your members and I don't post propaganda about your alliance, so don't bother.

ADAN ~ The Aggressive Defensive Alliance of Nations; Dephire; active; This alliance was intended to be both highly militaristic and economically sound. The ADAN looks out for its own members, but does outreach to nations outside the alliance. ADAN is both aggressive and defensive, and thus will use any means necessary to defeat its opponents. We aim to be precise, powerful, smart, wise, yet friendly to everyone. Peace is our goal, however if war was the only option, then we will make it a short war with our massive iron fists of unstoppable might.

MACTO ~ Meritocratic-Armageddon-Capitalist Treaty Organization; Nianacio; defunct; the closest, if not the strongest, alliance in the world. Consists of well over 350 member nations and 8 regions. While other alliances may have a significantly higher amount of members (We happen to be a part of one such alliance, the Allied Liberation League), MACTO is a fusion that is primarily based on our common belief in free-market economics. It is this ideological bond that makes MACTO members fiercely loyal to our own, moreso than other alliances
